Thurgood Marshall, Jr. Named to ERC’s Board of Directors

Arlington, VA – Thurgood Marshall, Jr., a Washington attorney and former senior White House aide, has been elected to the board of directors of the Ethics Resource Center, an independent, nonprofit research center focused on ethics in the workplace, the Center announced today.

Thurgood Marshall, Jr.Marshall is a partner in the Washington, D.C. office of Bingham McCutchen LLP, where his practice includes providing guidance to clients on ethics compliance and corporate governance and developing legislative and regulatory strategies.

Prior to joining the firm, Marshall served as assistant to the President and Cabinet secretary to President Clinton from 1997 to 2001. Earlier in the Administration, he was director of legislative affairs and deputy counsel to Vice President Gore.

Besides the executive branch, Marshall has experience on Capitol Hill and in the judiciary. He served as counsel to Senate committees on Judiciary, Commerce and Governmental Affairs and began his legal career as a law clerk to Judge Barrington D. Parker of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

He also serves on the boards of the Corrections Corporation of America, the Ford Foundation and the U.S. Postal Service. He holds a B.A. degree and a law degree, both from the University of Virginia.
