Recently, Compliance Podcast Network founder Tom Fox interviewed CEO Dr. Pat Harned on the newest trends report from ECI’s Global Business Ethics Survey® (GBES®); a longitudinal study of ethical trends from the employees’ perspective. In Part 4 of the GBES podcast series, Tom Fox and Dr. Harned discussed why strong ethical cultures matter and how to foster them.

Per the GBES Report, 13% of employees surveyed believe that they work in a strong ethical culture. This is of great concern for organizations as a whole, but should be of particular worry to E&C professionals. It is a harrowingly low number, further supported by proof that only 30% of organizations were found to have the basics of an E&C program.

This is indicative of a large problem globally: ethics & compliance are not taking priority. Organizations should be looking to build High-quality Programs (HQPs), which lead organizations to be 546% more likely to have a strong ethical culture. A stronger ethical culture leads to less risk and more profitability. ECI provides research and assistance to any organization looking to improve their E&C team into an HQP.

Worldwide, companies need to get to work on creating stronger ethical cultures, or they risk the well-being of their companies and their stakeholders. Dr. Harned and Tom Fox discussed how and why in this episode.
