Elizabeth Simon is the Vice President of Compliance at FirstKey Homes, a single-family home rental company based in Atlanta, GA. She is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring compliance initiatives to ensure FirstKey Homes’ work activities are compliant with all laws and regulations. She reviews regulatory requirements with Legal team members and operationalizes practices for the broader company, establishes formalized policies and procedures, reporting channels, auditing mechanisms, and vendor management compliance, and leads training initiatives to ensure all employees understand and practice compliance practices.
Ms. Simon previously served as the Director of Ethics & Compliance for Cox Enterprises, Inc. In her eight years at Cox, she was responsible for managing the Ethics Hotline and overseeing ethics-related investigations, conducting compliance risk assessments and ensuring that Cox is complying with the laws and regulations that are relevant to the company, leading the Records & Information Management program, and leading compliance-related projects, such as standardizing the investigation process across the company’s divisions.
Prior to joining Cox, Ms. Simon served as the Senior Internal Auditor for Kimberly-Clark in Roswell, GA, with responsibility for developing data analytics around Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and fraud analytics for scoping other internal audits. She led special audit and compliance projects on the Internal Audit team, including creating metrics for decentralized compliance functions to measure the effectiveness of the corporate-wide compliance program and developing the compliance website. Prior to that, Ms. Simon was in Kimberly-Clark’s Global Security department where she ran the anti-fraud program.
Prior to joining Kimberly-Clark, Ms. Simon worked at both PwC and Ernst & Young, two of the Big Four accounting firms. She conducted external audits and worked on forensic accounting investigations with these firms. She also worked at Global Payments, a payment processing company, and built out their Sarbanes-Oxley compliance program.
Ms. Simon currently serves as the Immediate Past Chair of the Board of Directors for the Atlanta Compliance and Ethics (ACE) Roundtable, a Board Member at the Georgia Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (GACFE) and is a Regent Emeritus for the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE).
Ms. Simon holds Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science Degrees in Accountancy from East Carolina University. She is a Certified Public Accountant in the states of Georgia (active) and North Caroline (inactive), a Certified Fraud Examiner, a Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional, Leadership Professional in Ethics & Compliance, and a Society of Human Resources Management Certified Professional.

Evren Esen LPEC SHRM-SCPVice President, Research & Analytics, Ethics & Compliance Initiative (ECI)
Evren has nearly two decades of experience conducting workplace research. She brings research leadership skills to ECI as head of the team that manages the implementation, analysis and reporting of ECI’s premier, longitudinal study on workplace integrity, the Global Business Ethics Survey®(GBES®).
Evren also oversees ECI’s Advisory Services, engaging with clients utilizing ECI’s tools to assist organizations in assessing, improving and strengthening their workplace culture.
Before joining ECI, Evren worked at the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) for 15 years. As director of workforce analytics, Evren led SHRM’s survey research projects on HR topics, including employee benefits, job satisfaction and engagement. She also served as the organization’s media spokesperson on workplace research.
Evren holds a bachelor of science in biology from Virginia Tech, a master’s of social work from Radford University and a graduate certificate in survey design and analysis from George Washington University.

Skip LowneySenior Survey Researcher, Client Solutions, ECI
As Senior Researcher, Mr. Lowney leads and participates in multiple research projects including quantitative and qualitative analysis in order to assess organizational culture as it relates to ethics and compliance programs. Mr. Lowney contributes to the study of ethics and compliance in the national workforce through ERC’s Global Business Ethics Survey (GBES®); and he surveys companies and organizations to determine the presence and effectiveness of their ethics and compliance programs, reporting on findings and making recommendations. He also develops and refines survey questions and methodology, participates in improving data collection and analysis techniques, investigates areas for further inquiry including developing white papers on special topics, and presents at conferences and other gatherings. Mr. Lowney joined the ERC in October 2005.
He holds a Master’s of City Planning from the University of California, Berkeley. While there, he performed specialized study in social theory and research and analysis on numerous topics.
