2023 - Convening a Blue-Ribbon Commission on ESG

In 2022, ECI began reaching out to business leaders, investing experts, academics, financial analysts, ratings agencies, and more. The goal was to assemble a Commission composed of a diverse selection of leaders with different backgrounds and roles, all of whom have a particular interest in the progress of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations for business. Current Commission members include former SEC officials, business leaders from defense, health & beauty, and property industries among others, academics and authors from institutions including Tufts University, Oxford Business School, and more. The Commission began meeting as a group in 2023, and came to the collective agreement that business has a unique and essential role in addressing the challenges of our world and an ethical obligation to positively impact their stakeholders. In early 2024, the Commission intends to publish its report on the role of business in broader societal issues. In addition, the Commission will initiate an online resource center dedicated to offering business leaders and members of the public a current, up-to-date resource on the developing regulations and emerging news around sustainability, cybersecurity, supply chains, and more ESG-related focuses.
